San Diego Safari Park - Butterfly Jungle

San Diego Butterfly Jungle

This species is commonly called the Brown Owl Eye. Each Spring, Safari Park opens the Butterfly enclosure with dozens of varieties of Butterflies. Small prey and birds are much less eager to attack this butterfly as it's coloration and detail would try to make it seem more like an owl and less like a butterfly. I guess it's works as a whole wall was covered with these beauties.
