Old US Naval Bi-Plane
One of the joys of photography for me is capturing images that are unique and different but also part of Living the San Diego experience. This photo was taken a couple years ago at the Naval Centennial Flyover. Naval Aviation had a very strong beginning in part due to the important influence of the Naval base on Coronado Island. At the Coronado Naval Base base, still very active today, this plane was brought in as part of the 100 years of Naval Aviation history celebration.
In history books where this plane is often shown off, it is shown as black and white or in sepia tones as that was what was available in photography at this time in history. Below this photo is the actual full color photo before I altered it.
Can't you just imagine this photo being on the front page of an old newspaper.
