The ActiveRainPhotoBlogger Group is pleased to announce that it's group featured posts will be awarded "Award of Merit " ribbons to display right in the members post that is being recognized in the group for it's excellence in content and presentation. Along with the group featuring the new award ribbons, we have a contest set to begin the first of the year and the award ribbons are designed and ready for all the contest winners.
This all came about in my thinking about making this group of talented ActiveRain members stand out and be recognized for their excellent photo journalistic stories. We have had numerous tutorials and other photo presentations that rival some of the best on the Internet.
I purchased ribbons from an award site and photographed them and Debi Boucher our Administrator removed the background and created a .png file for each award. When a member of the group posts an outstanding post, we will e-mail the award ribbon and the member can then add it to their post just like any other photo.
What we hope to do is have the featured posts stand out and eventually everyone on ActiveRain will be able to see that the post is featured within the group.
If you haven't already joined our ActiveRainPhotoBlogger Group, we invite you to do so. Our group appreciates the talent and efforts of each of its members.
We also designed a logo for our group and invite every member to use the logo in their post, again adding a differentiation to their post from the other photos groups in the Rain.
We are very excited about our upcoming contest in January 2010
The rules and the uniform standards by which they will be juried are all set and only the theme of the contest is yet to be decided.
Besides Debi, our Administrator, the moderators for the group are Mike Hendren and Myrl Jeffords with Brad Andersohn as group adviser.
The judges for the contest will be announced along with the winners. Brad will be determining the points for each of the category of awards for the winners. Those points along with other details will be announced along with the contest dates when the contest itself is announced in mid December.
Below are a couple of the awards ribbons for our contests. There will also be a 3rd Place and an Honorable Mention award for those earning that level of acknowledgment.
We are very pleased that ActiveRain, in particular Brad Andersohn and Bob Stewart, for all their encouragement and support of our group. Their guidance and recommendations are invaluable to all us in our efforts to present our photo stories in new and creative ways.
One of our goals of this group is help each of us become familiar with the many tools and resources available to make the presentations of our photo journalism stories the best they can be.
