Often Unrecognized Benefits of Being a Rainmaker

Often Unrecognized Benefits of Being a Rainmaker

We all know the benefits of being a part of ActiveRain, Right? We understand how we get the best placement in the search engines and get all the great exposure from the posts we write. We all understand if we do it right, we also receive a significant boost in our business. But have you ever taken stock of the many other benefits we often don't think about.

Over the course of the last 3 years of membership with ActiveRain, I have read market reports from members in real estate markets across the entire US. I have seen and read photo stories about various communities in nearly every state and seen maps and listings by the bucket loads. I have met and talked with members around all areas of the US and Canada. I have spoken even with my clients about other markets because I learn about them here in the Rain. I know about other cities and communities  right down to the small community festivals. I have seen and read about state parks from coast to coast and have even seen the flowers and birds that inhabit them. I know about major businesses and the Mom and Pop shops in small and big towns alike. I know about local governments and major community attractions. I have seen photos from across America of it's sheer natural beauty.

It occurred to me that I have accumulated all this knowledge and understanding of so much of our country by being here in the Rain. I know first hand the real estate agents in locations across the entire US that I will send referrals to. And how about even the  special interest stories in other locations around the country.  We have all seen and read about the impact of specific market and financing characteristics that have helped us in our own markets.

Did it ever occur to you that if you were not a member of ActiveRain, there is a good chance that a lot of what you know about the social media enterprises like Facebook and Twitter would not exist. And even the optimization of those sites that you learned about here in ActiveRain, you likely wouldn't know anything about? Not to mention that the amazing friendships you have with your colleagues here is Rain, wouldn't have happened. One of my best friends , Sally Cheeseman, I met right here. I would be less than I am if I hadn't met her and all the many other people I now call my friends. And on a very personal level, would I have expanded my photography interests and learned so many different things if I didn't have this group to share it with? Even my iPhone happened  because Gary Woltal spent the time to counsel me on why I should go that direction. And that experience further convinced me to change from the PC to the MAC. I seriously doubt that all this would have happened to me and enhanced my life.

Could you even imagine ever giving everything back that you have learned and especially the  resources you are currently using that you learned about here on ActiveRain?. Could you even imagine not teaching yourself about some of many things that you learned doing the research on all the many posts you have contributed here in the Rain. Could you imagine all the news stories that you might not have paid attention to that helped you learn the inside scoop of so many events that have happened in our lives.

Could you even imagine if ActiveRain never existed? Probably Not.  It's good to take stock of what you have once in a while and just say thanks to ActiveRain and each other that we may always have this special place called ActiveRain as a part of our lives. How fortunate we are and me in particular to even be able to write something like this post. It comes from the heart and it is extended to each of you in that vein. Thank you all so very much!
