The Quiet Revolution Taking Place in Elementary and Secondary Education
There is a revolution happening in education these days and it is quietly taking place with the introduction and expansion of high tech tools. As many of us in real estate have discovered the iPad and other available tablet devises used to handle many of our day to day activities is becoming the new normal in our industry.
Teachers and educators in elementary, middle and high schools are discovering that the electronic devise is providing a new level of engagement in education by the students. A new enthusiasm never before experienced in such encompassing ways. Kids are actually excited about using these tools and over time it will be proven that the educational standards as well as results in educational programs will have a profound affect on testing scores.
Apple developed a free application for teachers to create their own interactive digital textbooks to augment the lower priced textbooks that are being developed for online use. Teachers love the fact that they don't have to be programmers to assemble the needed rich interactive media content.
We are seeing in every facet of our society how the mobile tablet is replacing the heavier and more cumbersome notebooks requiring specialized software and doing so with the use of apps to carry out the functions. Since the programs and data are stored off the device, updating and changes occur continuously without the re-purchase or updating the expense associated with software. Though the initial investment is considered sizable, the longer term savings associated with the investment is finally being realized.
We know that change is inevitable but it is some great news on providing education with the interactive tablets that excite children to learn and keep them fully engaged in the process. Some teachers claim that while tablets are in use of the tablet, there is little requirement for much discipline as the kids are fully involved and content to be a student using technology to learn in a fun new way.
Perhaps we are finding some of the answers we have long sought in education.
