Is a photo really worth a thousand words?
We have all head the expression " A photo is worth a thousand words " and we accept that it means that "the thousand words" was expressed as a simple way of acknowledging or conveying that there is always a story contained within a photo.
So what do you see in this photo? Photos of people or a persons often carry a larger story than just what is there. But any photo that can chronicle the circumstances around it will make it even more interesting. The women in this photo is an craftsman who in her own way specializes in a art that is centuries old and is filled with culture and a proud heritage. She does what she does because she can. But she also does it with love. I watched her create and she seemed pleased that I recognized the skill in her craft.
Photos can and do provide many things but most often they tell a story. So some will see the literal content of a photo and either value or discard it. If you see a photo as art captured through the lens of the photographer, you will see more than the literal. You may also feel what captured the Photographer's imagination. Whatever beauty there may be is always in the eye of the beholder but the story will always be there, captured forever.
