Yellow Wattles?

Honestly, You have to wonder what these yellow things are for, right? The only thing I could think of is for decoration ( attraction of the opposite gender) but then it occurred to me, they might serve the same functions as they do on a Rooster. Cooling. The blood vessels are close to the skin and help keep this guy cool. They sort of look like sideburns but of course they do have a proper name, Whattles. I haven't seen this bird before at Safari Park and he wasn't in a protected area so I am guessing that he could end up being just a commoner but no one thus far knows what it is. I researched this on-line unsuccessfully. He was walking on one of the side walk trails and when he stopped to look back and I took the photo. Nice color scheme don't you think?
