San Diego Events for September | Tall Ships Parade of Sail

The Parade of Sail Festival Friday Sept 2nd thru Sept 5th
Hosted by The San Diego Maritime Museum, the Tall Ship Parade of Sail celebrates the legacy and lure of the open seas. The very first Festival of Sail occurred in 1999 and has been winning the hearts and the imagination of the public ever since.
The "Tall Ship" is a more modern description of these amazing ships but the the clouds of sails lofting over the hulls truly exemplify the description.
Having attended my first Festival of Tall Ships last year, this is an event I would clear my schedule for as I think it is the one of the most amazing events of the entire year. With the many representations of original and replicated ships to the period costumes of pirates, naval and seamen of yesteryear, I can think of no other event in San Diego that is more impressive or more fun.
