The Voice of San Diego Real Estate Presents "Coming Together"

This original creation stands 38 feet high and is shown here with our Petco Park in the background. This is a double sided fabrication as well as it is designed to represent two different sides in our lives. One side is brightly colored and the other is grey and black tones. The reverse or front side is also colored in the reverse of this side.
This work has a Ying Yank effect and is said to reflect the artist's inner conflict between the brighter side of one's life represented by various brightly colored glass panels and contrasted by the darker side in black glass and various tints of mirrored glass. With works illustrated around the world, Niki named this " Coming Together " and she felt it represents the coming together of the city's various facets.
Niki de St. Phalle has been honored with a Praemium Imperiale Award which is a sort of Nobel prize for outstanding achievements noted in sculpture. She is not new to San Diego with one of her works outside the entrance of the Mingei Museum in Balboa Park, works at the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art and has had a temporary work on display at the Embarcadero. The piece above is located at the south end plaza of the San Diego Convention Center and bridges the pedestrian access to the Bay.
