Vintage Planes in San Diego Fly-Over

Vintage Planes in San Diego Fly-Over

This past Memorial Day had a little something extra for San Diegans. With county wide emphasis on celebrating the " Day of Remembrance", in various parts of the county looking up, people not only saw beautiful sunlit skies but also any number of Fly-Overs of Vintage Planes.

My first Fly-Over observamnce was while I was visiting at our nations newest national cemetery adjacent to the Miramar Naval Air Station. From the East, I see heading straight over us several vintage planes dating back to WWII and before. Standing next to me was a retired Naval Veteran and he said he has seen several of the fly-overs earlier and he was enjoying the air shows while paying his respects to one of his fellow veterans recently interred at the cemetery. Being next to the Naval Air Station, this new cemetery will have daily fly-overs giving it it's own unique feature and characteristic.

I spent the afternoon with my camera, out to capture the many activities at our cemeteries and beaches and while at the Torrey Pines Glider Port and photographing the amazing number of flights of parasailing and paragliding, I look up to see my second Fly-Over of the day of Vintage Planes.

While at the Glider Port,  I was also able to capture this photo that will give you a little perspective of the magnificent San Diego coastline.
