One of the absolute delights about living in the San Diego with it's moderate temperatures is that we have flowers that grow year around and the Spring/Summer Bloomers are really quite extraordinary. This particular plant, the Clivia, likes all day shade and will bloom prolifically during the late Spring and early summer. The color is of course a vibrant orange but I think of it as bright tomato red with orange accents. There is quite a variety of this plant and they can be a wonderful accent or even a feature in flower beds. They also look great when used in a succulent garden or the lush tropical garden. I took this photo with the iPhone 6 plus last weekend at Balboa Park inside the Arboretum.
